We just made a giant leap towards our RL Intentional Community

Just to say that six of us here in Sweden, after years of planning, talking, learning, finally bought a farm to convert to an IC. The farm is about 2 hours from Stockholm, and has building permission for several houses and we believe after consultation with the local authorities, we can put up to 17 homes on it.

Connecting to The TransitionUS movement

The Post Carbon movement, which I have been involved in since 2003, is now merging together with the TRANSITION movement. This movement is aiming to create a worldwide movement of towns and cities transitioning to the post-carbon world.

Interestingly, the US Transition movement is using NING and there are groups already in every state! And there is now a SECOND LIFE group. started by WIlliamthe Wise, the founder of ETOPIA.

Water and Food Award projects can get Award in Copenhagen

Water and Food are Human Rights that nearly 900 million of our fellow human beings are not receiving. The Award for the Humanitarian Water and Food project that shows sustainability, innovativeness and potential will be presented in Copenhagen, Denmark in August 2009.
When we can send a man to the moon, surely we can feed everyone? And we can do it in a sustainable way. Studies show that when nations have peace, water and food, births per woman reduce as well, relieving population pressure.

About Perfect Paradise The island serves as a platform for our group to experiment with living in intentional communities. Apart from trying the idea ”in practice” we hope to be able to inform visitors about Intentional community.

Why Intentional Community (IC)?
Some of us are genuinely concerned about the state of the world and what we are handing on to coming generations. We feel the materialistic culture, and racing to fill the world with as much concrete as possible, is not a worthy legacy to leave.

One key to turning development in a sustainable direction is the power of community. Together, with respect for the dignity of individuals and with kindness and love we can create a better life for ourselves on a lot less, treading lightly on the planet. Yet in practice we know little of how to work together. Nine of ten attempts at intentional community fail.
SL provides a “safe” environment to try out this other way of living.

What we want to achieve on our Island.
We want to try out living together in a simple way in a beautiful place. Second life allows us to focus on just the community aspect of sustainable development, leaving the technical side to other sims like the fantastic creation of our friends at Etopia.

What we offer
As a visitor you are welcome to explore, meet us, and share the experience as our community evolves.

Above all, we hope you will enjoy your time on our Island and with us, so your SL experience is one of fun, good company and learning.
